For Australian Tradies & Local Service Businesses
SEO Sunshine Coast — Measured in Booked Jobs, Not Rankings
Rankings are a vanity number if the phone doesn't ring. We build local search around the suburbs you can actually win and the searches that turn into work.
Straight through to the person who'd actually do the work — no call centre.

Most SEO reporting measures the wrong thing. Rankings look impressive on a slide and mean nothing if the phone doesn't ring. For a Sunshine Coast trade or service business, the only numbers that matter are calls, quote requests, and booked jobs — everything else is a proxy.
The Map Pack Is Where the Calls Come From
When someone searches for a service near them, Google shows three businesses with a map before the normal results. That block gets the overwhelming share of the clicks on local service searches — and it's ranked on different rules to the rest of the page.
Three things drive it:
- Proximity — how close your registered business location is to the person searching
- Reviews — how many, how recent, and how consistently you reply
- Profile completeness — categories, services, photos, posts, hours
Proximity is the one nobody explains, and it's the one that decides what's realistic. It's why "we'll get you ranking across the Sunshine Coast" is usually a promise nobody can keep. From the northern end of the coast you can genuinely own Noosa, Cooroy, Tewantin and Gympie. Caloundra is another market.
We map that first, so the plan targets the suburbs you can actually take.
What We Actually Do
- Google Business Profile rebuild — categories, every service listed and described, photos attached to the right services, weekly posts. Most profiles have three of those wrong and the owner has never looked
- Grid-based rank tracking — we scan your rankings across a grid of points, not one search from one location, so you can see the map of where you show up and where you vanish
- Review generation built into the end of every job, plus fast replies
- Suburb and service pages that give Google something specific to rank instead of one page trying to cover everything
- On-page and technical work — the standard stuff, done once, properly
- Lead follow-up — because more visibility just means more enquiries to miss
Why Sunshine Coast SEO Is Winnable Right Now
Two reasons.
The competition is thinner than the population suggests. Plenty of coast businesses have a Google listing they claimed once and never touched — no services listed, no descriptions, last photo from 2022. A profile that's actively maintained beats one that isn't, and most aren't.
Reviews are the lever and almost nobody pulls it. The bar in most local trade categories here is lower than owners assume. A business that asks every customer, every job, for three months will overtake competitors who have been around for a decade and never asked once.
The Honest Timeline
- Weeks 1–2 — audit, baseline rank scan, Google Business Profile rebuilt. This is where the fastest movement happens
- Month 1–2 — review system running, suburb pages live, tracking in place
- Month 3–6 — the map results start moving properly, organic follows behind
- Ongoing — review velocity, posts, and content. Local SEO isn't a project you finish
Anyone offering faster than that on a competitive local term is describing paid ads.
SEO or Google Ads?
Both, usually, in that order of permanence.
Google Ads buys the top of the page today and stops dead when the budget does. SEO takes months and then keeps producing. If you need work this month, start with ads and build SEO underneath so you're not renting your leads forever.
If your budget only stretches to one, and you can wait — SEO. If you can't wait, ads.
Who This Is For
Plumbers, electricians, builders, cleaners, landscapers and most local service trades across the coast — Noosa, Cooroy, Tewantin, Gympie, Nambour, Coolum, Maroochydore and out through the hinterland.
We're based in the Noosa hinterland ourselves, so the service-area strategy is built around how the coast actually works rather than a radius drawn on a map.
Where to Start
The fastest honest answer is a baseline: where do you currently rank across your service area, and what's the gap. That's a 20-minute conversation and you'll get a straight answer, including whether you need us at all.
If you'd rather poke at it yourself first, our website scorer covers the on-page side, and the reviews-to-outrank calculator will tell you roughly how many reviews you'd need to pass the businesses currently above you.

Frequently asked questions
How long does local SEO take to work on the Sunshine Coast?+
Realistically three to six months before it's producing steady work, and the first visible movement is usually in the map results rather than the blue links. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is either selling you paid ads with a different name on it, or targeting keywords nobody searches. Google Business Profile work moves fastest — that's where we start.
What's the difference between local SEO and normal SEO?+
Local SEO is about the map results — the three businesses shown with a map when someone searches a service near them. It's driven mainly by how close you are to the searcher, your reviews, and how complete your Google Business Profile is. Normal SEO is about the blue links below, which are driven by your website's content and authority and aren't distance-limited. Local service businesses need both, but the map pack is usually where the calls come from.
Do reviews actually affect rankings?+
Substantially, and it's changed recently — recency and how fast you respond now matter more than the raw count. A steady trickle of new reviews with quick replies beats a big pile of three-year-old ones. Most businesses ask nobody and get whatever turns up. We build the request into the end of the job so it happens every time.
Can I rank across the whole Sunshine Coast?+
In the map results, not really — Google shows people businesses near them, so where your business is registered caps how far you reach. From the northern end you'll show strongly around Noosa and Cooroy and barely at all in Caloundra. Organic results aren't distance-limited the same way, so a well-built page can reach the whole region. We map which suburbs are realistically winnable for you before promising anything.
How do you report on it?+
Calls, enquiries, and rankings by suburb — mapped on a grid so you can see exactly where you show up and where you don't, month over month. Not a PDF of traffic graphs. If the number that matters isn't moving, we'd rather that be obvious than buried.
Do I need SEO if I'm already running Google Ads?+
They do different jobs. Ads buy you the top of the page today and stop the moment you stop paying. SEO compounds — it's slower to start and keeps working after. For most local service businesses the honest answer is ads first if you need work this month, SEO in parallel so you're not renting your leads forever.
